| Resrequest's data transfer function synchronises the three databases maintained by the system.
One database resides in the Principal's reservations office while the other two are housed on Resrequest's Internet
web servers. Resrequest users can make updates on any of these databases and the purpose of data transfer is to copy
additions and changes on any one server to each of the other servers. Updates on the Internet databases are limited
to the recording of new reservations and the changing of user passwords.
The data transfer process can only be initiated by an authorised user operating on the reservation office (offline) server. The menu path to the function is: Administration > Data Transfer > Process Data Transfer. When you make the menu selection the system displays the following screen. |

| After selecting the required transfer option, enter your password and click on the 'Submit' button. The 'Send' option causes all database updates on the offline server to be transferred to the web servers and the 'Receive' option causes the changes made on either of the web servers to be transferred down to the offline server. When the 'Send and Receive' option is selected, the system processes two transfers consecutively. When the transfer process is initiated the system displays a progress screen that shows details of the transfer activity. The screen includes a window that scrolls system messages recording the stage of the process, with the most recent message displayed at the top of the scroll window. | ||

| Tip: In order to perform a data transfer, the offline server must be connected to the
Internet. If this is not the case, the system will prompt you to establish a connection after which you may
resume the transfer. Whenever a transfer is not successfully completed, for this or any other reason, the
system will automatically resume the transfer the next time you select the 'Process Data Transfer' function.
It will not allow you to commence a new transfer while there is an incomplete transfer in progress.
To view the history of data transfers that have been performed, select the menu option Administration > Data Transfer > Review Data Transfer. The system then displays the list shown below, with the most recent transfer shown at the top of the list. |

| If you click on a row in the list the screen shown below displays a summary of data that was transferred. This information is only really applicable to Resrequest support staff in the event of having to troubleshoot a data transfer. It provides an indication of the volume of records handled by the transfer. | ||
