  Functions on rates
  Create a new rate
Create a new rate by clicking New on the toolbar or clicking the New Rate button, from the New Rate Type pop-up:
  1. Select the rate period and rate type to be applied from the drop down menus (a rate type cannot be applied to the same period twice)
  2. Select a rate type to base the new rate on (this will apply all rate components to the new rate type - except the amounts are set to 0.00) or click Base this rate type on a blank template button to create the new rate without applying any existing components
  3. Select a period and rate type for the new rate

   Period
  • Select a period for the new rate (values shown here are setup in the Rate Period code table)
  • Rate types have an associated currency and Rate Period. Allocating a rate period enables users to setup different rates at different times of the year. For example: 01 Jan 2003 to 31 Mar 2003 could be 'low season' and therefore require a different rate than 01 April 2003 to 31 December 2003

 Rate type
  • Select a Rate Type for the new rate (values shown here are setup in the Rate Type code table)
  • Only rate types that have not been applied to the selected rate period will be displayed in this drop down
  • This drop down must only be selected once a rate period has been selected
  • Different rate types can be allocated to agents and public users, a rate type can be setup with different commissions and or components which means that the user can create a quotation in a rate type allocated to them. Rate types for a reservation are set before an itinerary is created on the availability calendar. A rate type has an associated currency which assists in calculating the total cost for a reservation.

Select a rate type to base the new rate type on
  • A new rate can be based on a rate applied to the property. Basing the new rate on an existing rate will carry all the existing components and their attributes across to the new rate. The only attribute that is not carried across is the values. The values are all reset to '0.00'
  • To apply an existing rate to a new rate, select the rate from the list displayed
  • Apply an existing component structure to a new rate by selecting the existing rate from the list. In the example below, a new rate for the period 16 Apr 2003 to 31 Dec 2003 for the USD rate type (which has a USD currency allocated) will be based on the USD rate for the period from 01 Jan 2003 to 31 Mar 2003

  • A confirmation window opens to confirm that you are basing the new rate on an existing rate type

    • Click Yes to confirm the new rate structure
    • Click No to close the window and return to the New Rate pop-up
  • The new rate information is shown on the rate tab, from here click an accommodation unit to edit the components
  • The rate type has been created based on the selected rate type's cost components

Base this rate type on a blank template
  • Selecting this option will create the new rate type without components or amounts
  • Once this button is clicked, the accommodation units are displayed on the rate tab (the new rate type has been created, but the components and amounts have not be setup), from here you can now select an accommodation to edit the components (by clicking on the respective accommodation)
  • The rate type has been created, but no components have been setup

 Cancel
  • Cancel will close the New Rate pop-up and return to the property rate tab
