New Rate Type

To set up New rates:

Click the New button on the toolbar. A pop-up screen will be displayed where you can specify the period and the rate type of the new rate. The list of rate types from which you can choose excludes any rate type that has already been defined for a period that overlaps with the period selected for the new rate.

The screen also lists all existing rates for the property. You have the option of selecting one of these rates to be used as a template from which to set up the new rates. If you do select one of these templates, the system will automatically create cost components for the new rates to mirror the details contained in the template. The only component value not copied across is the rate amount, which is set to 0.

Alternatively, you may elect to base the new rate on a blank template, in which case the system will generate a list of the accommodation types without any components and thus without any rate amounts.

Whether or not the new rates were defined from a template, the next step is to edit each accommodation row in order to set up the cost component amounts.

To View rates:

Click on the Search for existing rates button. The system will display a list of all rates that have been defined for the property. If you select a rate from the list, the rate type and the period dates applicable to the selection are displayed in the header section of the Rates screen. The main body of the screen lists all of the accommodation types offered by the property, showing the standard rate amount per room and a list of the components that have been used to build up the cost.

To Edit rates:

You cannot edit rates on this screen because the rates represent a consolidation of cost components. To change a rate, click on the accommodation type row to bring up the screen on which you can change the individual components.

To Delete rates:

Click the Delete tool button. This has the effect of deleting any accommodation type rows for which no cost components have been defined.

Tips and Shortcuts

When setting up new rates, copy from an existing rate template if a suitable one exists. This will save you from having to set up the individual cost components for each accommodation type.

Terms and Definitions

Rate type Description of the rate type.
Currency The currency in which the rate type is denominated.
Period The description of the period to which the rates apply.
From The start date of the period.
To The end date of the period.
Accomm type The column contains the description of each accommodation type offered by the property. Inactive accommodation types are shown in italics.
